PTSD treatment

If you answer yes to any of these questions trauma therapy could change your quality of life. I hope to offer you the most effective Trauma counseling and PTSD Treatment available in Fort Collins. Trauma is often the root cause of most of our mental health problems. If you are looking for treatment for Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, Chronic Pain, etc. trauma therapy could help you actually heal, not just manage symptoms. Sadly, trauma can wreak havoc on your personal and professional life. It can lead to repeated heartache, a lack of motivation, and challenges feeling competent and valued at work. Trauma can rob you of your of power and purpose, leave you with the feeling of never being good enough, and even make you wonder if you are loveable. Trauma can also result in physical pain and contribute to illness. It can cause a sense of dread, create anxiety, and cause you to isolate. Trauma can also cause brain fog, hurt your memory, and certainly increase anger and volatility.

How do you know if you have experienced a traumatic event?

Trauma can be any life event which causes significant physical and /or emotional distress in which the person feels significantly overwhelmed,

helpless, trapped, and/or generally powerless. Trauma can be caused by repeated exposure (usually to childhood events) and/or single events. For example, trauma can be caused by divorce, abandonment, humiliation, injury, natural disaster, accidents, work place conditions, war, civil conflict, emotional, sexual and physical abuse, bullying, parental conflict, and much more. Trauma can have physical as well as emotional manifestations. It is important to realize that trauma is our body’s response to feeling out of control or in danger, not our minds.

We all undergo some sort of trauma in our lifetime. We are hard wired to grow as a result of trauma. For instance, being born is a traumatic event. Trauma literally shapes our lives. In fact, we often hear about people doing great things as the result of having lived through trauma. Trauma inspires people to be everything from social activists to great athletes and world-class performers. Trauma can be a strong motivator! For this reason, my intention is to help clients experience Post Traumatic Growth. That means they don’t just become free of traumatic stress, they grow from in it ways they never could have imagined.

Because trauma so often leaves people feeling disconnected, stuck, alone, isolated, and powerless, I have developed a unique healing program at Amani Farm that is based on reprocessing trauma so that you can enjoy a newfound sense of connection, belonging, freedom, and power. There is so much we can do to not just help you survive, but actually thrive! I know that may seem a long way off right now, but I have seen healing happen with so many people, that I know it is possible for you. Clients are continually pleased and surprised at the rapid progress they make. I often hear “I have gotten more out of a few sessions working with you, than I have with years of regular talk therapy.”

What will trauma treatment or PTSD treatment look like?

PTSD treatment

At Amani Farm, I will lead you through a holistic counseling experience that focuses on the mind, body, spirit connection. You will have warm, caring support and we will move at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for you. My office is lovely and attached to the barn, but we can also work outside, take walks by the lake, and just enjoy the small farm and its animals. Together we will decide what combination of talk therapy, Brainspotting, and/or Equine Therapy is right for you. You absolutely get the final say! If you don’t want to work with the horses, that is fine. Know that I am here for support and professional expertise and at the same time, I always believe that you are the expert on you. Because PTSD and trauma are ultimately about a lack of control, it is extremely important that the counseling experience itself is empowering.

You can experience transformational results because of the unique techniques I use and the beautiful setting in which we can work. Amani Farm is a place where ancient wisdom and cutting edge neuroscience intersect. I am a neuroscience geek and want to bring you the most cutting edge techniques available for healing. Here you are offered both. Traumatic stress is a neurobiological/physical/spiritual event; it’s not just mental. As you have probably experienced, it’s virtually impossible to talk yourself out of trauma. You need techniques that not only address your mind, but your body and spirit as well. This is why I use both Brainspotting and Equine Assisted Therapy, and why my office is on a beautiful farm. Working with the horses and nature can help heal a person’s spirit and the Brainspotting helps with the brain/body connection. Trauma often has a physical presence in the body. When trauma is stuck in your body, it impacts the part of your brain that is designed to keep you safe (the limbic system). This part of your brain is neither logical, nor verbal. Rather, it acts instinctively and reflexively. Both Brainspotting and Equine Assisted Therapy are neurobiological modalities for reprocessing trauma. They impact the reflexive, instinctual, “illogical” part of the brain that cannot be reached with words and logic. In other words, they work!
